The Voyage of the Alamar

Getting There

Travel to Maine and to ports on Nova Scotia should be relatively straightforward. For the more remote legs on Newfoundland we have briefed a local travel agent in St. John's on the Alamar trip. She is well-informed about local airlines and can also make any necessary hotel/motel and car rental reservations. Just tell her you're an Alamar crew person.

The cost of a typical itinerary from Boston to Newfoundland will be about $700 U.S. (The exchange rate is running 65 cents U.S. to the Canadian dollar, so don't get confused with the higher Canadian prices.) The routing would be:
Boston to Halifax, NS
Halifax to St. John's, NF
St. John's to an outlying NF airport
and reverse

If you're interested in making your own reservations or using another travel agent, beware that some of the local airlines don't seem to show up in all databases. You might check, in addition to the main carrier, Air Canada, the following.
